Data we process
Guest preferences, watchlists and viewing history are stored on the device. If you create an account, we process your email address, optional display name, password hash, language and region preferences, saved media, viewing history, and room participation required to provide synchronization and multiplayer features.
How data is used
We use this information only to operate CineMatch, secure accounts, synchronize user choices, provide rooms, prevent abuse, troubleshoot failures, and satisfy deletion or export requests. We do not sell personal data.
Third-party services
CineMatch requests entertainment metadata from TVmaze and AniList through the CineMatch server. Those providers may receive standard network information such as the server IP address. Store distribution is provided by Apple and Google under their own privacy policies.
Retention and security
Account data is retained while the account is active. Room records are designed to expire. Passwords are stored as salted cryptographic hashes, access is encrypted in transit in production, and refresh tokens are hashed. No system can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You can use core discovery features without registering. Signed-in users can export their data or permanently delete their account in Account settings. See the deletion instructions.
Children
CineMatch is not directed to children under the minimum digital-consent age applicable in their country. Age-rating and content controls will be configured in each store.
